INCOLOY® alloy 825 (UNS N08825/W.Nr. 2.4858) is a nickel–iron–chromium alloy that includes molybdenum, copper and titanium.
Incoloy® 825, designated as Nickel Alloy 825, is a nickel–iron–chromium alloy containing minor proportions of molybdenum, copper and titanium. This composition provides Incoloy® 825 with enhanced resistance to corrosion in highly aggressive environments.
Like many other alloys in the Incoloy family, Alloy 825 offers the user a range of measurable advantages:
Effective resistance to both reducing and oxidising acids, such as sulphuric and phosphoric acid
Reduces the incidence of stress corrosion cracking
Prevents localised attacks, including pitting and crevice corrosion
Provides consistent resistance to multiple oxidising agents, including nitric acid, nitrates and oxidising salts
Due to its enhanced corrosion resistance, Incoloy® 825 is utilised in several industries and applications:
Chemical processing
Pollution control
Refrigeration systems
Oil and gas recovery
Hot containers for food, water and seawater
Acid manufacturing
Pickling tank heaters, tanks and associated equipment
Reprocessing of nuclear fuel
Handling of radioactive waste
Ship exhaust systems
Corrosion resistance: Alloy 825 has been confirmed to exhibit high resistance to corrosion, including pitting and crevice corrosion, in various aggressive environments. Consequently, it is applicable in operations where acids, seawater and other corrosive substances are present.
High strength: The alloy maintains its structural integrity under mechanical loads, as verified through standardised tests under challenging conditions.
Weldability: Alloy 825 is amenable to welding and forming; consequently, conventional processing is facilitated and the production of complex designs is achievable.
