Two primary types of packing elements in a packing column are random packing and structured tower packings. The packing elements provide a large surface area with a low bulk density. They are chiefly produced from metal, plastic and ceramic materials.
Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) now offers various packings and internals, including:
Randomised Metal Packings:
Stainless steel Raschig rings.
Randomised Plastic Packing:
Plastic plate rosette.
Ceramic Random Packing:
Porcelain Berl seats, Porcelain Super seats, Porcelain cascade minirings, Porcelain cross‐sectional rings, Porcelain Pall rings, Porcelain Raschig rings, honeycomb ceramic filter plates (honeycomb), Aluminium oxide ceramic bead (inert bead), etc.
Other random packings:
Graphite Raschig rings, 4A molecular sieve, 5A molecular sieve, carbon nanotube masterbatch (PA6), molecular sieve (NKF‑5), etc.
