Solar energy

Solar energy has the capacity to supply global energy needs. Recent studies indicate that its production may exceed current global demand under standard testing conditions. Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) provides materials for solar energy research projects at several UK universities and companies. SAM supplies Rhenium, which functions as a light-sensitive dye that absorbs solar radiation. This dye is used in photovoltaic cells to capture energy. Copper-Indium-Gallium-Selenide thin-film solar cells exhibit production costs that are approximately 40% lower than those of conventional cells. They emit pollutants at levels reduced by about 20% compared to standard modules. Under low light conditions, these cells maintain performance as measured by a 10% efficiency improvement over established thin-film technologies. Their photoelectric conversion efficiency is approximately 12%, which exceeds that of other thin-film solar cells internationally.
