Niobium is a metal with a grey colour. When it remains in air at room temperature for 30 days, its surface forms an oxide layer that produces a slight blue tint. Quantitative tests show that Niobium retains 96% of its initial mass after 12 hours of chemical exposure; Tantalum retains 95% under the same conditions.
Symbol: Nb
Atomic number: 41
Atomic mass: 92.90637

Element category: Transition Metal
Niobium, formerly known as Columbium, is a grey metal that may acquire a slight blue tint when exposed to air at room temperature over extended periods. It shows a comparable performance to Tantalum and resists a range of chemical agents. Niobium retains high ductility under standard conditions.
Consistent flexibility:
Niobium exhibits high ductility that remains stable under normal room conditions. This ductility permits its use in a variety of applications.
Strength and measured appearance:
Niobium combines sufficient strength with a stable appearance. It withstands various environmental conditions and operational challenges, thereby confirming its suitability for multiple uses.
Niobium connects traditional material practices with modern techniques and is prepared to support new developments. Its similarity to Tantalum and its distinct properties indicate that it has potential for a range of applications.
