Pure Niobium

Niob, formerly known as Columbium, is a grey metal. A slightly bluish colour is developed by the metal when it is exposed to air at room temperature for prolonged periods. Analytical data indicates an 80% correspondence in chemical properties between Niob and Tantalum. Standard chemical resistance tests show that Niob withstands exposure to 5% solutions of common acids for over 100 hours. Standard tensile tests indicate ductility measured at values exceeding 20% elongation at room temperature.
