Compared to conventional radiation shielding materials, tungsten alloys provide quantifiable value. A high-density alloy achieves the same energy absorption as lead whilst using 33.33% less material!
Compared with conventional radiation shielding materials, tungsten alloys offer economic advantages. A high-density alloy achieves equivalent energy absorption to lead while using one‐third less material.
Tungsten alloys are employed in containers for radioactive sources, for gamma radiation, in shields and in source holders used in oil drilling, logging and industrial instruments. High‐density alloys are also used as collimators in radiotherapy and as splash shields for radioactive injections. When a specific quantity of radiation must be directed to a designated area, tungsten alloys provide the necessary control. The high‐density alloys from SAM maintain performance even under extreme conditions with high thermal exposure.
Effective Radiation Absorption: Tungsten alloy radiation shields are engineered to absorb and block harmful radiation, thereby protecting personnel and sensitive equipment.
Precise Shielding: Our manufactured shields feature a specified density and thickness that ensure efficient radiation attenuation without affecting mobility or functionality.
Multiple Applications: Radiation shields are utilised in medical imaging, nuclear power, research facilities and other sectors to reduce radiation exposure for personnel and the environment.
Advantage of High Density: High density enables the construction of compact shielding solutions that provide effective radiation attenuation.
Medical: Radiation shields are used in medical imaging and radiotherapy. They protect medical personnel and patients from potentially harmful radiation exposure.
Nuclear Energy: In nuclear power plants and research facilities, shields help reduce exposure to ionising radiation for personnel.
Research: Research facilities utilise our radiation shielding solutions to control exposure during studies with radioactive materials and particle emissions.
Environmental Protection: Radiation shields are essential in maintaining a controlled environment at sites with radiation presence, for example in waste storage and disposal facilities.
Quality Assurance: Radiation shields undergo stringent testing to meet industry standards and ensure consistent radiation attenuation.
