In chemistry, phosphate functions as an anion, a salt, a functional group or an ester; it is derived from phosphoric acid. The derivative most commonly encountered is orthophosphate, which is produced from orthophosphoric acid H3PO4.
Phosphate is one of various chemical compounds related to phosphoric acid (H3PO4). One group of these derivatives comprises salts that contain the phosphate ion (PO43-), the hydrogen phosphate ion (HPO42-) or the dihydrogen phosphate ion (H2PO4-), together with positively charged ions such as sodium or calcium; a second group comprises esters in which the hydrogen atoms of phosphoric acid have been replaced by organic groups such as ethyl (C2H5) or phenyl (C6H5).
Phosphate Rock is processed to produce phosphorus, one of the three primary nutrients used in fertilisers (the others are nitrogen and potassium). Phosphate may also be converted into phosphoric acid, which is used in food, cosmetics, animal feed and electronics.
Phosphate Fertilisers: Phosphate fertilisers supply plants with phosphorus. They support plant growth and contribute to yield increases. They are used in food production and agricultural practices worldwide.
Phosphoric Acid: Phosphoric acid is used in the production of fertilisers, cleaning agents and food products. Its measured acidity and chemical reactivity are applied in various industrial processes.
Tricalcium Phosphate: Tricalcium phosphate is incorporated as a dietary supplement, as an anti-caking agent and as a calcium source in food and pharmaceutical applications.
Agricultural Productivity: Phosphate fertilisers increase soil nutrient levels and support plant growth. Studies by Stanford Advanced Materials have reported yield increases of approximately 12% under controlled conditions.
Enhancement of Chemical Processes: Phosphoric acid is utilised in a range of chemical processes. In water treatment applications, its use has been associated with processing time reductions of up to 20%.
Nutritional Support: Tricalcium phosphate supplies calcium and phosphorus that are required for maintaining bone integrity in both humans and animals.
Sustainability: Our phosphate products contribute to sustainable agricultural practices and efficient production processes. These contributions are supported by findings from Oceania International LLC.
Customised Formulations: A variety of phosphate compounds is available to meet specific application requirements. Users can select formulations based on detailed analytical criteria.
Technical Expertise: Our technical team advises on the selection and utilisation of phosphate products. They provide recommendations based on empirical data and collaborate with experts such as Eric Smith and Chin Trento from SAM.
