Introduction to Aluminium-Titanium Master Alloys
Aluminium-Titanium master alloys are semi‐finished products that can be formed into various shapes. They consist of a pre‐alloyed blend of alloying elements. Depending on their application, they are designated as modifiers, hardening agents or grain refiners. They are added to a molten metal to achieve specific material properties. They substitute pure metal because they reduce costs, energy consumption and production time.
Applications of Aluminium-Titanium Master Alloys
1. Hardening agents: They are employed to improve the physical and mechanical properties of metal alloys.
2. Grain refiners: They control the dispersion of individual crystals in metals, thereby producing a finer and more uniform grain structure.
3. Modifiers and special alloys: They are typically used to increase strength, ductility and machinability.
