Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) supplies MAX phase ceramic materials. These materials provide electrical and thermal conductivity and they offer oxidation resistance, high‑temperature stability and mechanical strength. MAX phase ceramic materials are produced in various compositions, particle sizes and purities. They are used in aerospace, nuclear energy, electronic devices and structural applications.
MAX phase ceramics are layered ternary carbides and nitrides that conform to the general formula Mn+1AXn. Here, M denotes an early transition metal, A denotes an A-group element, and X represents either carbon or nitrogen. They combine ceramic and metallic properties. Measured thermal conductivity values have exceeded 100 W/mK, and electrical conductivity permits effective current conduction. In standard tests, compressive strength has been quantified at approximately 400 MPa, with stiffness measured near 220 GPa. Damage tolerance has been verified through routine mechanical testing.
These materials are used in aerospace, energy, defence, nuclear technology and high-temperature structural applications. Conventional ceramics or metals alone may not meet operational requirements in these sectors.
