Tungsten Sheet Description
Tungsten Sheet exhibits substantial high‐temperature resistance, hardness and density. As a global supplier, Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) provides tungsten sheets with various surface treatments: warm‐rolled, alkaline cleaned, electrolytically polished, machined or polished.
Pure tungsten is a hard, lustrous and silvery‐white metal. It possesses the highest melting point, the lowest vapour pressure and the highest tensile strength of all elements. Consequently, tungsten is utilised in high‐temperature applications. Its high electrical conductivity leads to its use in TFT‐LCD displays within the electronics industry.
SAM manufactures tungsten flat products with thicknesses ranging from 0.060′ to over 1.00′. Tungsten flat material with a thickness between 0.060′ and 0.090′ is classified as sheet, whereas material with a thickness of 0.10′ or greater is classified as plate. Tungsten sheet is applied in the production of sintered components, in high‐temperature furnace parts and as heat shields.
Tungsten Sheet Applications
1. Aerospace: Due to tungsten’s high melting point and thermal conductivity, it is incorporated in aerospace components such as thermal shields, rocket nozzles and structural members.
2. Electronics: Used as heat sinks and substrates in electronic devices for thermal management and electrical insulation.
3. Medicine: Employed in radiation shielding for X‐ray rooms, CT scanners and medical imaging devices because of its capacity to attenuate radiation.
4. Heating Elements: They are utilised in high‐temperature furnaces and heating elements for semiconductor manufacture and material processing.
5. Military: Owing to its high density and ability to withstand extreme conditions, tungsten is utilised in armoured vehicles and tanks.
6. Sputtering Targets: They are used in thin‐film deposition processes for the manufacture of semiconductors, flat panel displays and optical coatings.
7. Industrial Applications: Employed in furnace components, crucibles and electrodes for high‐temperature processes in metallurgy, glass production and the chemical industry.
