Lithium

Lithium is a soft, silvery-white metal with a low melting point. It is the first of the alkalis in the periodic table and the lightest metal. Lithium is highly reactive and flammable, so pure lithium is often stored in mineral oil. Lithium and lithium compounds have numerous industrial applications. Most of them are employed in heat-resistant glass and ceramics, lithium grease lubricant, flux additives for iron, steel, and aluminium production, and lithium batteries.
