Aluminium-Silicon Alloy Description
Aluminium-Silicon Alloy is a forging and casting alloy based on aluminium and silicon. It is employed in the automotive and mechanical engineering sectors for the production of components operating under sliding friction conditions. The alloy exhibits low density, thermal conductivity, mechanical strength, hardness and corrosion resistance. When the silicon content is 0.7% (by weight), the alloy exhibits acceptable ductility and is used as a wrought alloy. When the silicon content is 7% (by weight), the molten alloy presents adequate filling characteristics.

Aluminium-Silicon Alloy Application
The alloy is utilised for incorporating silicon during the melting of aluminium alloys. Consequently, it is processed at a low addition temperature, and the composition is controlled to maintain prescribed limits.
Packaging
All packaging materials comply with requirements for air, sea and road freight. For selected alloys, vacuum packaging is available. Measures are implemented during storage and transport to prevent damage.
