Introduction Wound care incurs significant healthcare costs, particularly when treating burns, surgical, trauma, diabetic ulcers, and skin wounds. Current treatments focus on care rather than healing. Effective wound repair follows steps: coagulation, inflammation, angiogenesis, tissue formation, and matrix remodelling. Zinc, a crucial trace micronutrient, supports cell membrane repair, proliferation, growth, and immune function. Deficiency can cause skin lesions, growth issues, immune dysfunction, and hindered healing. This study examines zinc's cellular and molecular roles in wound repair, aiming to improve clinical management.
