Samarium Chloride Description
Samarium Chloride is used in several applications. It serves as a catalyst in organic synthesis. It is used as a precursor for samarium‐based compounds. It acts as a dopant in the manufacture of phosphors for electronic displays. It is also applied in the production of samarium–cobalt magnets. These magnets generate high magnetic force and are used in motors and headphones.

Samarium Chloride Application
Catalysis: It is used as a catalyst in organic synthesis reactions. It facilitates carbon–carbon bond formation, hydrogenation and oxidation reactions.
Polymerisation: Samarium Chloride serves as a polymerisation catalyst in the manufacture of synthetic rubber. It supports the additional polymerisation of monomers such as butadiene and isoprene.
Luminescence: It is used as a dopant in phosphors for fluorescent lamps and cathode ray tubes. Ultraviolet light excitation produces green, red and blue light.
Magnetic Materials: Samarium Chloride is applied in the production of permanent magnets. It is combined with cobalt and other rare earth elements. This combination improves magnetic performance. The magnets are used in electromotors, generators and MRI systems.
Nuclear Reactors: Samarium Chloride is utilised as a burnable neutron absorber in nuclear reactors. It is added to the circulating coolant. This addition regulates the fission rate and prevents excessive power increases.
Chemical Synthesis: It is used in the synthesis of other samarium compounds such as samarium bromide and samarium iodide. These compounds are employed in various chemical reactions and organic transformations.
Medical Applications: Some studies indicate that certain samarium complexes may have potential in cancer treatment. They are examined as anticancer agents or imaging agents for diagnostics. Further research is required.
Samarium Chloride Packaging
Samarium Chloride is clearly marked and labelled externally. Measures are taken to ensure accurate identification and quality control. It is stored and transported without incurring damage.
