Yttrium Oxide Stabilised Zirconia Powder Description
Yttria Stabilised Zirconia (YSZ / YTZ), also referred to as Yttria Zirconia or Yttria Stabilised Zirconium Oxide, is a ceramic material provided by Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM). YSZ consists entirely of a tetragonal, fine‐grained phase. This ceramic material exhibits the highest flexural strength among zirconium dioxide-based materials.
Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) has over two decades of experience in the manufacture and distribution of high-purity Yttrium Oxide Stabilised Zirconia (YSZ / YTZ). This experience enables SAM to supply products that meet stringent technical specifications.
SAM produces YSZ powder using a self-developed hydrolysis process. Different YSZ powders are manufactured based on varying Y₂O₃ content. Standard products include 3mol-YSZ powder, which is available in either a dense or non-dense form in accordance with customer requirements. The physical properties meet the demands for dry pressing, isostatic pressing, injection moulding, casting, slip casting and spray moulding, thereby ensuring process compatibility.

Applications of Yttrium Oxide Stabilised Zirconia
YSZ ceramic is used in the following applications:
Structural ceramics;
Plasma coating processes;
It is employed in dental crowns and related industrial sectors due to its hardness and chemical inertness;
It is used as a refractory material in turbine engines and similar installations;
It serves as a thermal insulation layer in gas turbines;
It is utilised as an electro-ceramic because of its ionic conductive properties (e.g. for measuring the oxygen content in exhaust gases, determining the pH in high-temperature water and in fuel cells);
YTZP is used in applications where metal substitution is required.
Packaging of Yttrium Oxide Stabilised Zirconia
The Yttrium Oxide Stabilised Zirconia ceramic is carefully packaged to minimise damage during storage and transport, thereby preserving the product quality in its original state.
