Precious Metal Catalyst

Precious metal catalysts contain an incompletely filled d-orbital. Depending on the reaction, this orbital donates electrons to or withdraws electrons from the reagent. Catalytic reactions with these metals yield activity and selectivity that have been determined in controlled assays. The catalysts resist oxidation and form oxide layers at a reduced rate. Their thermal stability permits use in a spectrum of applications, including pharmacy, agrochemistry, petrochemistry, chemistry, environmental science and materials science.
