Europium (Eu, atomic number 63) is a silvery‐white, soft lanthanide rare‐earth metal. It exhibits fluorescent properties. It is used primarily in red fluorescent materials for televisions and displays, in LED lighting and in the control rods of nuclear reactors. Due to its scarcity, Europium has a market price that exceeds those of more common elements.
