Holmium is a rare-earth metal classified within the lanthanide group of the Periodic Table. It exhibits softness, deformability, ductility and a silvery appearance. Magnetic permeability measurements designate holmium as possessing the highest permeability among all elements. Dysprosium is the only other element for which measured magnetic permeability is within the same order of magnitude as that of holmium.
Symbol: Ho
Atomic number: 67
Atomic mass: 164.93033
Element category: Lanthanide
Holmium is a soft, malleable, ductile, silvery rare‐earth metal that belongs to the lanthanide group of the periodic table. It has the highest magnetic permeability among elements; Dysprosium is also noted for its high permeability.
Due to its high magnetic strength, Holmium is used in alloys to generate strong magnetic fields. It is also incorporated in nuclear reactors because it can absorb neutrons.
Among the Holmium compounds, Holmium oxide (Ho2O3, Holmia) is frequently used as a yellow or red pigment for glass and cubic zirconium dioxide.
Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) can now offer various Holmium products, including:
Forms: Powder, foil, rod, wire, sputter target or customised
Purity: 3N–4N
Holmium Oxide (Ho2O3) / Holmia: 3N–5N
Holmium (Ho); Holmium oxide (Ho2O3) / Holmia
