Rhodium is a hard, silvery‐white metal. It belongs to the platinum group that includes Ruthenium, Palladium, Osmium, Iridium and Platinum. The metal exhibits high hardness and corrosion resistance. Rhodium is employed as a catalyst in vehicle three‐way catalytic converters. These converters reduce harmful emissions. Jewellery manufacturers apply Rhodium as a coating on white gold and platinum. The coating is used to enhance brightness.

Rhodium is a shiny, silvery-white hard metal of the platinum group, which comprises Ruthenium, Palladium, Osmium, Iridium and Platinum. It is primarily used as a catalyst in three‐way catalytic converters for motor vehicles (80% of its application) and reduces nitrogen oxides in exhaust gases.
Furthermore, Rhodium is employed as a catalyst in the chemical industry for the production of nitric acid, acetic acid and for hydrogenation reactions. Other applications include the coating of glass fibres, optical mirrors, crucibles, thermocouples and headlamp reflectors, as well as its use as an electrical contact material due to its low resistance and high corrosion resistance.
Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) now offers various Rhodium products including:
