Rubidium is a soft, silvery‑white metal. It is one of the most electropositive and reactive alkali metals. It ignites spontaneously when exposed to air. It reacts strongly with water. Its commercial applications remain limited. The metal is used in vacuum tubes as a getter to remove trace gases. It is also employed in the manufacture of photo‑cells and specialised glasses.
Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) provides a range of Rubidium products:
Rubidium is a soft, silvery-white metal. It is one of the most electropositive alkali metals. It ignites spontaneously in air and reacts exothermically with water.
Rubidium and its compounds have limited commercial applications. It is used in vacuum tubes as a getter to remove trace gases, and it is employed in the manufacture of photo-cells and specialised glass. It is also utilised in research; for example, Rubidium vapour is used to investigate atomic properties. In semiconductor manufacturing, Rubidium contributes to optimising electronic device performance. Given that Rubidium nitrate occasionally imparts a violet colour to pyrotechnic devices, its use extends to controlled applications in this field.
Our Rubidium products are sourced from accredited suppliers and undergo strict quality controls to comply with industrial standards.
