Activated Alumina Al2O3 Description

Activated Alumina Al2O3 possesses good physical properties, high strength, non-toxic, tasteless, featuring good ion exchange capacity, with an entry of 0.4 cm³/g, providing a high adsorption capacity. Due to its ease of regeneration and long lifespan, the associated costs are relatively low, making it an economical, effective, and practical method for fluoride removal.

Activated alumina desfluoridation agent is originally a type of adsorption material that plays a specific role in adsorbing impurities; it can be categorized into macroporous (100-500Å), mesoporous (40-100Å), and microporous (≤40Å). The distribution of pore diameter ranges from 10Å to 500Å. It exhibits a certain adsorption capacity for molecules smaller than its pore diameter.

Fluoride primarily exists in water in an ionic state. When removing fluoride, the fluoride in the ionic state is predominantly extracted from the water. The adsorption by activated alumina constitutes only a small portion, with the most significant factor being the ion exchange capacity of activated alumina.

This material is widely used in the deep drying of pyrolysis gas, ethylene and propylene production, hydrogen generation, air separation, drying of instrument air, and fluorine treatment of hydrogen peroxide. It can also absorb H2S, SO2, and other pollutants, HF and water vapour in paraffin, particularly in the defluoridation of drinking water.
