Description of Incoloy 825 Wire
Incoloy 825 is an austenitic nickel-iron-chromium alloy with additions of copper, molybdenum and titanium.
The nickel content renders Incoloy 825 resistant to chloride stress‐corrosion cracking. The molybdenum and copper composition enhances the alloy’s corrosion resistance in reducing environments compared to other austenitic stainless steels. Chromium and molybdenum make the alloy more resistant to chloride pitting and oxidising atmospheres. Titanium stabilises the alloy against sensitisation in the welded state. These compositions give Incoloy 825 high resistance to stress‐corrosion cracking and pitting in most environments except strongly oxidising chloride solutions.
Owing to its corrosion resistance, Incoloy 825 is utilised in numerous industries, including chemical processing, environmental protection, oil and gas production and nuclear fuel reprocessing.
