Aluminium-Niob Alloy Description
Aluminium-Niob alloys are semi-finished products that can be produced in various forms. They are a pre‐alloyed mixture of alloying elements. Depending on the application, they are known as modifiers, hardeners or grain refiners. They are added to a melt to achieve the specified result. They are used in place of pure metal because they are cost‐effective, thereby reducing energy consumption and production time.
Applications of Aluminium-Niob Alloys
1. Hardening agents: They are used to improve the physical and mechanical properties of metal alloys.
2. Grain refiners: They are utilised to control the dispersion of individual crystals in metals, thereby producing a finer and more uniform grain structure.
3. Modifiers and special alloys: They are generally used to increase strength, ductility and machinability.
