Aluminium Rare Earth Pre-alloys Description
Aluminium rare earth pre‐alloys are semi‐finished products that can be produced in various forms. They are premixed blends of alloying elements. Depending on the application, they are also known as modifiers, hardening agents or grain refiners. They are added to a melt to achieve a specified outcome. They are used in place of pure metal, as they reduce energy consumption and processing time.
Applications of Aluminium Rare Earth Pre-alloys:
1. Hardening Agents: They are used to enhance the physical and mechanical properties of metal alloys.
2. Grain Refiners: They control the dispersion of individual crystals in metals to produce a finer and more uniform grain structure.
3. Modifiers and Specialised Alloys: They are generally used to increase strength, ductility and machinability.
