Description of Spark-Proof Beryllium-Copper Slip Joint Pliers
Beryllium Copper (BeCu), also known as Copper-Beryllium and Beryllium Bronze, is a copper alloy containing 0.5–3% beryllium, with occasional additional alloying elements. Beryllium Copper offers high strength combined with non-magnetic and spark-resistant properties. It is used in equipment for hazardous environments, musical instruments, precision measuring devices, projectiles and in aerospace applications.

Beryllium Copper (BeCu) is ductile, weldable and machinable. It can be heat treated to improve its strength, durability and electrical conductivity. Beryllium Copper achieves a tensile strength of up to 1 400 MPa, the highest value among copper alloys, and is utilised in low-current contacts within batteries and electrical connectors.
Beryllium Copper (BeCu) is employed in measurement instruments during drilling operations (MWD) in the directional drilling industry. A non-magnetic alloy is necessary given that magnetometers are used to record field intensity data.
Since Beryllium Copper (BeCu) does not produce sparks, is mechanically durable and non-magnetic, it is utilised in the manufacture of instruments for environments containing explosive fumes and gases.
