Introduction Metal hyperaccumulator plants are notable for their capacity to accumulate and neutralise high levels of metal ions, particularly cadmium, nickel, and zinc, in their shoots. This biological phenomenon has intrigued scientists for over a century, offering valuable insights into plant metal homeostasis and adaptation to high-metal environments. Recent advances in molecular tools have enhanced understanding of the physiological processes underpinning metal hyperaccumulation, providing a clear view of how these plants manage metal stress.
