Introduction The interaction of anionic aluminium or gallium nucleophiles with beryllocene results in the formation of Be–Al or Be–Ga bonds. The Be–Al bond in this complex is notably shorter than previous examples, indicating a unique non-nuclear attractor (NNA) in its electronic structure. Due to the comparable electronegativities of beryllium and aluminium, the beryllium centre exhibits less positive charge than the aluminium centre. This configuration suggests potential nucleophilic activity at beryllium, as evidenced by its reaction with N,N′-diisopropylcarbodiimide, leading to a beryllium–diaminocarbene complex.
