Titanium Hydride (TiH2) (CAS 7704-98-5) Description
Titanium hydride (TiH2) (CAS No. 7704-98-5) is a chemical compound consisting of titanium and hydrogen, classified as a hydride. It is highly reactive and must be kept away from heat and potent oxidising agents. Titanium hydride is available on the market as a grey/black powder and is used as an additive in the production of Alnico sintered magnets, in metal powder sintering, in the manufacture of metal foam, in the production of titanium metal powder and in pyrotechnics.

Titanium Hydride (TiH2) (CAS 7704-98-5) Applications
Titanium hydride (TiH2) (CAS No. 7704-98-5) is frequently used in ceramics, pyrotechnics, sports equipment, as a laboratory reagent, as a blowing agent and as a precursor for porous titanium. When heated in a mixture with other metals in powder metallurgy, titanium hydride releases hydrogen. This hydrogen removes carbon and oxygen, thereby forming a strong alloy.
* Titanium hydride (TiH2) can be used to reinforce fracture through local plastic deformation and brittle fracture in titanium and titanium alloys.
* Titanium hydride (TiH2) can be used for hydrogen production and storage.
* Titanium hydride (TiH2) can also be used for aluminium foaming, given that its decomposition temperature is closer to the melting point of aluminium.
