Description of Indium Sulphate Powder
Indium(III)-sulphate (In2(SO4)3) is a sulphate salt of the metal indium. It is a sesquisulphate, meaning that the sulphate group occurs one and one‐half times as frequently as the metal. It can be produced by reacting indium, its oxide or its carbonate with sulphuric acid. An excess of strong acid is required, as otherwise insoluble basic salts form. As a solid, indium sulphate may be anhydrous or occur as a pentahydrate with five water molecules or a nonahydrate with nine water molecules. Indium sulphate is used in the production of indium or indium‐containing compounds. It may also be encountered as basic salts, acid salts or double salts including indium alum.
