Ytterbium-doped Yttrium Aluminium Garnet Description
Ytterbium-doped Yttrium Aluminium Garnet (Yb:YAG) is a laser-active material that is more suitable for diode pumping than the conventionally used Nd-doped crystals. Compared with the standard Nd:YAG crystal, the Yb:YAG crystal has a considerably broader absorption bandwidth, thereby simplifying the thermal management of diode lasers. Yb:YAG is predicted to replace Nd:YAG in diode-pumped high-power lasers and other potential applications.
