Mikro-Lanthanhexaborid Description
Mikro-Lanthanhexaborid LaB6 powder is an inorganic chemical and a refractory ceramic material. It has a melting point of 2210 °C and a density of 2.61 g/cm³. It is insoluble in water and in hydrochloric acid. It exhibits a low work function and one of the highest known electron emission rates. It remains stable under vacuum conditions. Mikro-Lanthanhexaborid is used in various conventional and technological industries including mechanics, electronics, aerospace, metallurgy, chemistry and environmental applications.

Mikro-Lanthanhexaborid Applications
Mikro-Lanthanhexaborid is used in thermionic cathodes. It is applied as a single crystal or as a coating. The coating is deposited by physical vapour deposition. LaB6 is used as a size and strain standard in powder X-ray diffractometry to calibrate instrumental peak broadening. LaB6 exhibits superconductivity with a transition temperature of 0.45 K. It is used in radar, aerospace, electronics and environmental protection, and as a surface coating for polyethylene films to safeguard against sunlight and infrared radiation.
