Sodium Tripolyphosphate Powder Descriptions
Sodium Tripolyphosphate Powder (CAS 7758-29-4) is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula Na5P3O10. It functions in chelating, suspending, dispersing, peptising, emulsifying and pH buffering. Sodium Tripolyphosphate Powder is utilised as a key additive in synthetic detergents, industrial water softeners, pre‐tanning agents for leather processing, dye auxiliaries, catalytic agents in organic synthesis, dispersing agents in the pharmaceutical industry and food additives, among other applications.

Sodium Tripolyphosphate Powder Applications
- In detergents.
In hard water, detergents become inactivated. Consequently, the charged chelating agent TPP5 binds to divalent cations and prevents them from interfering with the sulfonate detergent.
- Food applications
STPP is used as a preservative for seafood, meat, poultry and animal feed. In foods, STPP acts as an emulsifier and aids in moisture retention. Many governments regulate the permissible amounts in foods, given that its inclusion can increase the sale weight of seafood.
- Other uses
Ceramics (reduces the viscosity of glazes up to a defined limit);
Leather tanning (used as a masking agent and synthetic tanning agent – SYNTAN);
Anti-caking agents, setting retardants, flame retardants, paper production, corrosion protection pigments, textiles, rubber manufacturing, fermentation, antifreeze, etc.
