1.common manufacturing processes

Nickel-Cer alloys are produced using vacuum induction melting or argon-protected melting processes. High-purity Nickel is initially melted in a graphite or ceramic crucible under an inert gas atmosphere to prevent oxidation. Once the Nickel is fully melted (at temperatures typically around 1 450 - 1 550 °C), Cerium metal is added slowly and carefully. Due to the high reactivity and low melting point of Cerium (~798 °C), it must be added cautiously to avoid oxidation and excessive evaporation. Continuous stirring ensures uniform distribution of Cerium in the Nickel melt. After homogenisation, the alloy is cast into bars or granulated for further use. Rapid cooling or solidification may be employed to minimise segregation and promote a uniform microstructure.
