Silver Sulfide Powder, Ag2S, is sensitive to light. When heated to about 179℃, the crystals are converted from orthorhombic crystals to cubic crystals. Silver sulfide is dissolved in nitric acid, and sulfuric acid solution, and soluble in potassium cyanide and sodium cyanide solution. It is used as analytical reagent to determine sulfur, oxygen, bromine, and iodine ions in the soil.
