FeSiAl Powder Applications
High-temperature annealing improves permeability and reduces hysteresis loss in soft magnetic composite materials (SMCs). Consequently, the eddy current loss increases.
We produced soft magnetic Fe/Fe3O4-FeSiAl composites by replacing part of the Fe powder with FeSiAl. The composites exhibit high permeability and low core loss. After annealing at 550°C for 1.0 h, the Fe2O3 and Fe-OH in the insulating FexOy coating gradually transform to Fe3O4. The Fe/Fe3O4-FeSiAl SMCs, with 25 wt.-% FeSiAl Powder, show a core loss of 120.4 W/kg and a real permeability of 118.6.
The FeSiAl alloy displays microwave absorbing properties in the gigahertz frequency range. It was processed into microwave absorbing materials with significant absorption, a broad absorption bandwidth, low thickness and light weight.
