Strontium Carbonate Description
Strontium carbonate (CAS: 1633-05-2) is a water‐insoluble source of strontium. It is converted into other strontium compounds, for example the oxide, by heating (calcination). Carbonate compounds release carbon dioxide when treated with diluted acids. Strontium carbonate is available in large quantities. Ultra‐high purity and high purity formulations improve the optical performance and suitability for use as scientific standards. Nanoscale elemental powders and suspensions may be considered as alternative forms offering a large surface area.
Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) manufactures various standard grades, including Mil Spec (military grade), ACS, reagent and technical grade, food, agricultural and pharmaceutical grade, optical grade, USP and EP/BP (European Pharmacopoeia/British Pharmacopoeia), and complies with the relevant ASTM test standards. Both standard and customised packaging options are available. Additional information regarding technical data, research and safety (MSDS) and a reference calculator for converting relevant units of measurement is available.

Applications of Strontium Carbonate
Strontium carbonate is used in the production of strontium ferrite magnetic materials, non‐ferrous metal melts, red fireworks, and in the manufacture of high‐purity strontium carbonate for PTC and other electronic components. It is used in the production of TV glass and display glass, strontium ferrite, magnetic materials, and in non‐ferrous metal desulphurisation, thereby serving various industries. It is also utilised in the manufacturing of pyrotechnics, fluorescent glass, flares, paper production, pharmaceuticals, analytical reagents and as a raw material for the production of strontium salts.
