Aluminium oxide (Al2O3), commonly known as bauxite in its refined form, is a white or nearly colourless crystalline substance. It is used as a material in the melting process of aluminium metal. Aluminium oxide is a ceramic material that demonstrates high thermal conductivity, compressive strength and resistance to changes in temperature.
