Zinc is a silvery‐white metal. It is brittle and exhibits moderate reactivity. It can be oxidised or react with non‐metals. Industry uses most zinc to galvanise metals such as iron and steel to prevent corrosion. It also serves in batteries, small non‐structural cast components and alloys such as brass and bronze.
