Zinc exhibits a lustrous appearance. It shows brittleness. Its colour is silvery‐white. It reacts with oxygen and other non‐metals. Industries galvanise iron and steel with zinc to protect against corrosion. Engineers manufacture batteries, small non‐structural cast components and alloys such as brass or bronze using zinc.

Purity: >99%
Corrosion resistance: Zinc naturally forms a protective patina. This patina reduces corrosion and extends operational lifespan in various environments.
Malleability and ductility: Zinc metal can be readily formed, cast or shaped into complex geometries. It supports multiple manufacturing processes.
Electrical conductivity: Zinc exhibits an electrical conductivity of approximately 28% IACS. It is used where specific electrical performance is required.
Recyclability: Zinc is highly recyclable. Recycling processes recover upwards of 90% of the material without significant loss of properties.
Alloying potential: Zinc can alloy with other elements to produce alloys with defined properties. The resulting alloys serve targeted applications.
Galvanisation: Zinc is applied to steel and iron to prevent rust and decay of structural components.
Automotive industry: Zinc-coated parts are used in vehicle manufacturing to meet corrosion protection requirements and safety standards.
Construction: Zinc is utilised in roofs, gutters, downpipes and architectural elements. It fulfils design durability criteria.
Batteries: Zinc is a key component in certain battery types. It contributes to electrochemical processes and energy storage capacity.
Electronics: Zinc alloys are used in electronic components, connectors and housings. They provide a balance of strength and conductivity.
