Molybdenum alloys maintain high strength and mechanical stability at temperatures up to 1 900°C. Their ductility and toughness provide a greater tolerance for imperfections and brittle fractures compared to ceramics.
Molybdenum is a heat‐resistant metallic element. It forms hard and stable carbides. It has the sixth highest melting point among all elements. It is used in cast iron, steel and high‐temperature alloys for applications requiring corrosion resistance. It is employed in the military and defence sectors, specialised machining workshops and the semiconductor industry.
TZM alloy, Mo-La alloy, Re-Mo alloy, Mo-Nb alloy, Al-Mo alloy, Fe-Mo alloy, ZHM alloy, MHC alloy, Mo-W alloy, Cu-Mo alloy, Mo-Ni pre-alloy, etc.
Available in various forms.
Molybdenum alloys possess properties that are essential in several fields:
High-Temperature Performance: The high melting point of molybdenum, combined with selected alloying elements, produces alloys that perform in high-temperature conditions. They maintain structural integrity during heat exposure.
Mechanical Strength: Molybdenum alloys deliver measured mechanical strength. Tests confirm they meet industrial requirements for strength and durability.
Corrosion Resistance: The incorporation of alloying elements increases resistance to corrosion. They are used in environments that contain corrosive substances.
Conductivity: These alloys provide high electrical and thermal conductivity. They are applied in electrical components, furnaces and similar technical applications.
Molybdenum-Tungsten Alloy: This alloy comprises molybdenum and tungsten. It is employed in aerospace, automotive industries and high-temperature processes.
Molybdenum-Titanium Alloy: This alloy combines molybdenum with titanium. It offers enhanced corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. It is utilised in the chemical industry and for medical devices.
Molybdenum-Rhenium Alloy: This alloy integrates molybdenum with rhenium. It is applied in aerospace, electronics and other high-temperature applications.
