Aluminium Alloy 1050 Foil Description
An aluminium alloy with a high purity level, designated as alloy no. 1050, is sometimes referred to as EC (electrically conductive). Aluminium Alloy 1050 Foil contains at least 99.5% aluminium and offers higher electrical conductivity than other alloys in the 1000 series. Foils made from Aluminium Alloy 1050 are used in transformer and switchgear systems because they represent the most economical conductive alloy within the 1000 series. Although other aluminium products may have a higher aluminium content, these alloys are generally more difficult to source and cost exponentially more than the 1350 and 1050 alloys.
The two items differ in that the chemical composition of 1050 has a slightly higher maximum silicon content than 1350. This difference is minimal, with both values representing maximum limits; however, even a small difference may affect critical applications.
