Aluminium-Lithium Alloy 1420 Description
Aluminium-Lithium Alloys 1420 (Al-Li Alloys) are a series of alloys composed of aluminium and lithium, often containing copper and zirconium. Lithium is the lightest metallic element. Its addition reduces the alloy's specific weight and increases its stiffness, while maintaining high strength, good corrosion resistance and acceptable ductility.
Lithium reduces density and increases stiffness when alloyed with aluminium. With proper alloy design, Aluminium-Lithium Alloys achieve measured values of strength and toughness.
