Andalusite Powder is a polymorph that occurs with two other minerals, Kyanite and Sillimanite. A polymorph is defined as a mineral that has an identical chemical composition but a different crystal structure compared with another mineral or minerals.

A particular variety of Andalusite is designated as "Chiastolith". It contains black or brown inclusions of clay and/or carbon-containing material within the crystal. These inclusions are arranged in regular, symmetrical forms.
