Transparent Yttrium Oxide Ceramic Description
The transparent yttrium oxide ceramic, without coating, exhibits a light transmittance of over 80%. Yttrium oxide, also designated as Y2O3, is a stable, white solid. Transparent ceramics are polycrystalline materials with defined light transmittance, produced by ceramic processes and also referred to as optical ceramics. Compared to optical materials produced from glass or resin, transparent ceramics demonstrate higher strength, hardness, corrosion resistance and thermal stability. They are used under conditions of extreme severity.
