Tricalcium Phosphate Wedge Spacer (TCP) is a high-temperature phase of calcium phosphate, white in colour and insoluble in ethanol and ether, but readily soluble in acids while resistant to alkaline solutions. TCP exhibits excellent biocompatibility and bioactivity, is non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, and does not induce allergic reactions. Upon implantation as an artificial bone, it is completely biologically degraded and gradually replaced by new bone. The degradation products (calcium and phosphorus) promote mineralisation and accelerate the healing of bone defects.

TCP is used in orthopaedic clinics, plastic and cosmetic surgery, as well as in dentistry to repair bone defects and to facilitate bone fusion following trauma, tumours, inflammation, and bone diseases.
