Tricalcium Phosphate Block (TCP) is a high-temperature form of calcium phosphate, characterised by its white colour and insolubility in ethanol and ether, while it is soluble in acids and resistant to alkalis. TCP is known for its excellent biocompatibility and bioactivity; it is non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, and does not cause allergic reactions. When used as synthetic bone, it undergoes complete biological degradation and is gradually replaced by new bone, with its degradation products (calcium and phosphorus) promoting mineralisation and accelerating the healing of bone defects.
