Introduction C-aryl glycosides are essential in natural products and pharmaceuticals, influencing efficient synthesis methods. Traditional cross-coupling often utilises palladium catalysts with prefunctionalised substrates. This study presents a method using ruthenium(II)-catalysed meta-C−H glycosylation, allowing access to meta-C-aryl glycosides from readily available glycosyl halide donors. The process benefits from mild reaction conditions, exceptional anomeric selectivity, and exclusive meta-site selectivity, demonstrating the efficiency of ruthenium catalysis.
