Introduction This study presents the first Ru-catalysed C−H arylation of benzoic acids using readily available aryl (pseudo)halides. Notably, the reaction proceeds without silver salt additives and facilitates the arylation of hindered benzoic acids, as well as ortho-substituted halorarenes that are typically unreactive. Additionally, this method is applicable to indole carboxylic acids, enabling access to C7‐, C6‐, C5‐, and C4‐arylated indole compounds, diverging from the traditional reactivity at the C2 and C3 positions of indole.
