Gadolinium Oxide Powder Description
Gadolinium Oxide (Gd2O3), also known as Gadolinium(III) Oxide, Di-gadolinium Trioxide, Gadolinium(+3) cation, and oxygen(-2) anion, is an inorganic compound that is insoluble in water and mineral acids.
Gadolinium oxide is used in the manufacture of optical glass and gadolinium–yttrium garnets for microwave applications. Pure gadolinium oxide is utilised in the production of phosphors for colour television cathode-ray tubes. Cerium oxide (in the form of gadolinium-doped ceria) constitutes an electrolyte with high ionic conductivity and low operating temperatures, thereby facilitating cost-efficient fuel cell production. It is one of the most frequently available forms of the rare-earth element gadolinium, whose derivatives are employed as potential contrast agents in magnetic resonance imaging.
