Description of Polyaramid Honeycombs
The honeycomb is a low-density material used primarily as a shear-carrying core in lightweight sandwich constructions. The air gap between the composite panels is divided by the honeycomb into numerous enclosed cells, thereby restricting air movement and reducing the transmission of thermal and acoustic energy. Consequently, the honeycomb panel is suitable for thermal insulation, heat retention and noise reduction. When incorporated into an adhesive-bonded composite sandwich panel, the material’s strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to corrosion enable its use in doors, floors, furniture, kitchen and sanitary modules, interior partitions and energy absorbers.
